Tar Heels in NFL: Ebron scores TD pass as Steelers roll to 10-0; Boston leads Panthers to shutout

By R.L. Bynum

Tight end Eric Ebron and the Pittsburgh Steelers just keep rolling on. Ebron pulled down four catches for 36 yards and a touchdown as the Steelers moved to 10-0 headed into Thursday’s night’s home game against the Baltimore Ravens.

After Pittsburgh rolled to a 27-3 win at Jacksonville, rookie Chase Claypool “interviewed” Ebron.

It was a big day for the Carolina Panthers’ defense with that unit’s shutout in a 20-0 home victory over the Detroit Lions. Leading the way was defensive back Tre Boston with six tackles and two assists.

He talked about it all after the game:

In his fourth consecutive start with Joe Mixon out with a foot injury, Gio Bernard didn’t have a big day in the Cincinnati Bengals’ 20-9 loss at Washington. Bernard had eight carries for 18 yards and four catches for 37 yards. There will likely be more starts for Bernard because the team put Mixon on the IR, meaning he’ll also miss at least the next two games.

Although victorious, Cole Holcomb had a quiet game for Washington with one tackle and one assist playing 63% of his team’s defensive snaps. In Washington’s nickel package, Holcomb was one of two linebackers.

In the Denver Broncos’ 20-13 home win over the Miami Dolphins, defensive tackle Sylvester Williams, who turned 32 Sunday, had a decent game with three assists and one pass defended. He went down with an arm injury in the first quarter but returned.
