It won’t be easy to watch UNC-UVa women’s game on TV for some

By R.L. Bynum

Some fans who can’t make it to Carmichael Arena on Thursday to see the No. 11 Carolina women face Virginia may have a tough time watching the game from home.

The 6 p.m. game is one of three remaining UNC women’s games that will air on regional sports networks, and not everybody has access to one of them or an easy alternative way to watch. Tickets are still available for only $10 each.

It’s a big game for the Tar Heels (16–5, 7–3 ACC), who are one game behind No. 16 Duke and No. 9 Notre Dame in the ACC standings. The Blue Devils and Irish share the league lead, but the Tar Heels have defeated both teams and seek their eighth consecutive victory Thursday.

Your regional sports network — which could be a Bally Sports regional channel, MASN, NESN, Yes Network or Marquee Sports Network — depends on where you live.

In North Carolina, most viewers can watch the game on Bally Sports Southeast (available on Spectrum Cable and DirecTV, among others, but not Dish Network) and MASN (available on DirecTV, among others, but not Dish Network). In New England, the game should be available on NESN. Yes Network would be the best option in the New York City area and Marquee Sports Network is the place to watch in the Chicago area. Elsewhere, the game should be available on many Bally Sports regional channels.

ADVERTISEMENTS

If you live outside of the ACC’s geographic footprint, you can stream the game on ESPN3. However, ESPN3 is required to black out the game for people living in ACC markets.

If you live in the ACC region and subscribe to Dish Network or other services that don’t offer regional sports networks, you can stream the game using Bally Sports+. That service costs $19.99 a month (or $189.99 a year), but you can get a free seven-day trial subscription if you are a new customer of the service.

Bally Sports+ subscribers, and customers with television providers that offer a Bally Sports channel, can also watch on the Bally Sports app (available on the Apple Store or Google Play).

Bally Sports+ also offers North Carolina viewers access to the Charlotte Hornets and Carolina Hurricanes games.

Two additional Carolina women’s basketball games will air on RSNs: the Feb. 23 home game against Virginia Tech and the regular-season-ending contest Feb. 26 at Duke.
