Harrison Barnes put up a double-double and Cole Anthony had a solid effort off the bench as both helped their teams move to 2-0 with Saturday night victories. Reggie Bullock not only dealt with a second loss but a jersey mistake.
Barnes collected 11 points and 10 rebounds in the Sacramento Kings’ 106–103 victory over the Phoenix Suns. Barnes pulled down his 100th offensive rebound as a King to tie Kenny Smith for 116th.
Cameron Johnson came off the bench to score eight points for the Suns.
In nearly 17 minutes of the Orlando Magic’s 130–120 road victory over the Washington Wizards, Anthony had nine points, five rebounds, five assists , no turnovers and a 7.5 game score.
Coby White started out hot with three 3-pointers in the first five minutes of the game but that didn’t continue in the Chicago Bulls’ 125–106 home loss to the Indiana Pacers. White finished with 12 points, three assists and four turnovers as the Bulls fell to 0–2. He was 4 of 10 from the floor and 4 of 7 from 3-point range.
In the Philadelphia 76ers’ 109–89 road victory over the New York Knicks, both teams had a UNC player to start and score six points.
Danny Green had six points, five rebounds, three assists and four steals for the 2–0 Sixers (including the below 3-pointers) while Tony Bradley didn’t play for the second time in two games.
For the Knicks, Reggie Bullock had six points, three rebounds and two assists. Theo Pinson had no statistics in 2 minutes and 27 seconds off the bench after playing 55 seconds in the Knicks’ opener.
Bullock, who wears No. 25, was a victim of a jersey mistake to start the game. The front of his jersey was correct but the back of his jersey had a 23 (Mitchell Robinson’s number) on it. In the first quarter he switched to a jersey with 25 on both sides.
Wayne Ellington didn’t play in the Detroit Pistons’ 128–119 double-overtime home loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers after not playing in the opener as well. Ellington is playing behind Jerami Grant (who started, played 43 minutes and collected 28 points and 10 rebounds) and Josh Jackson (who had six points and eight rebounds in 19 minutes).
Justin Jackson didn’t play in the Oklahoma City Thunder’s season-opening 109–107 road victory over the Charlotte Hornets. Jackson is playing behind Luguentz Dort, who had 15 points in 35 minutes.
After not playing in the Minnesota Timberwolves’ opener, Ed Davis only played 28 seconds in their 116–111 road win over the Utah Jazz.
For the second time in as many Portland Trail Blazers games, Nassir Little wasn’t active because of health and safety protocols.
