Tar Heels in NBA: Barnes scores 26 in loss to Lakers; Johnson hits 17 in victory

Harrison Barnes scored 22 of his 26 points in the first half to lead four Tar Heels to score at least 13 points Friday night but only Cameron Johnson’s 17 points came in a victory.

In 37 minutes of Sacramento’s 115–94 home loss to the Los Angeles Lakers, Barnes led the Kings in scoring, going 9 of 10 from the floor with three 3-pointers, five rebounds and five assists. Barnes’ 24.7 game score was his third-best this season and 12th of at least 20.


In a game with three Tar Heels, all coming off the bench, Johnson’s Phoenix Suns took a 140–103 home victory over Justin Jackson, Tony Bradley and the Oklahoma City Thunder.

In scoring 17 points, Johnson was 6 of 9 from the floor with three 3-pointers for a 15.7 game score, his second-best of the season.

Jackson had another efficient night with 15 points in 12 minutes on 5 of 8 shooting with three 3-pointers for an 11.4 game score. Bradley had nine points in 24 minutes and missed his first two 3-point attempts of the season.


Reggie Bullock had 13 points and four 3-pointers in 13 minutes of New York’s 99–96 home loss to Dallas. For the 10th consecutive game, Theo Pinson didn’t play.


In Chicago’s 113–106 home loss to Utah, Coby White had four points in 24 minutes on 2 of 6 shooting. It was his second four-point game since being taken out of the starting lineup.


Danny Green and Wayne Ellington each collected 11 points and three 3-pointers in Thursday victories.

Green added six rebounds, two assists and three steals for a 12.9 game score in Philadelphia’s 114–94 win at Cleveland. Ellington had five rebounds and a 10.3 game score in Detroit’s 120–91 home win over Washington.
