Tar Heels in NBA: Barnes, Anthony register double-doubles; Bullock doesn’t start

By R.L. Bynum

Harrison Barnes had another solid game Sunday night but a bad shooting night might have been costly to the Sacramento Kings.

Barnes collected 15 points, 10 rebounds, five assists and three steals in their 105–99 loss Sunday at Dallas with his third double-double of the season and second in as many games. He struggled with his shot, though, making only five of 16 shots and 1 of 8 3-point attempts.

He gave Sacramento its only lead of the game, 60–59, on a dunk with 7:34 left in the third quarter, but only scored two points on 1 of 4 shooting in the fourth quarter.

How consistent has Barnes been? His 15.1 game score was his lowest of the season. He’s averaging a double-double with 23.3 points and 10.3 rebounds per game.

After two games in the starting lineup, Reggie Bullock came off the bench again for the Mavericks, collecting seven points, three rebounds and three assists in 21 minutes. He was 3 of 9 from the floor and 1 of 5 from 3-point range.

In Orlando’s fourth consecutive loss, a 110–103 Saturday defeat at Detroit, Cole Anthony registered his second double-double of the season with 15 points and 10 rebounds, making 3 of 4 3-point attempts and dishing out three assists.

It was Anthony’s third consecutive game with a double-digit game score, putting up a 12.4.

Nassir Little had eight points and six rebounds off the bench in Portland’s 125–113 Sunday loss at Charlotte. He was 2 of 3 from 3-point range to give him 50 career NBA 3-pointers.

Day’Ron Sharpe played nearly seven minutes, his most playing time this season, in Brookyn’s 117–91 home win Sunday over Detroit. Sharpe scored five points, making both shots, including his first NBA 3-pointer, and pulled down two rebounds.

In Philadelphia’s 122–94 home win Saturday over Atlanta, Danny Green had six points, four rebounds, three assists and two steals, making two of his three 3-point attempts. He has only scored in double figures twice in the first six games.

After playing a little more than eight minutes total in his first two appearances this season, Chicago center Tony Bradley played 14 minutes in the Bulls’ 107–99 Saturday home win over Utah. He scored two points and pulled down four rebounds.

In Phoenix’s 101–92 Saturday home win over Cleveland, Cameron Johnson had 10 points and 12 rebounds in 12 minutes. Ed Davis didn’t play for the Cavaliers.
