Tar Heels in NBA: Green swipes four steals, scores in double figures for second straight game; Pinson 27, Jackson 18 in G League

By R.L. Bynum

Danny Green continues to bring hustle back to Philadelphia’s lineup.

After returning from missing four games with hamstring tightness, Green has scored in double figures and recorded four steals in two consecutive games.

Green collected 11 points, three 3-pointers, three rebounds, three assists and four steals in 21 minutes coming off the bench of Philadelphia’s 121–120 double-overtime home loss to Minnesota.

“Hamstring feels great,” Green said. “There’s other things that I was trying to attend to, but the hamstring feels really good.”

Joel Embiid returned to the lineup for the Sixers (10–10) after missing nine games because of COVID-19 protocols and had 42 points and 14 rebounds in the loss.

Phoenix (17–3) extended its win streak to 16 with a 113–107 win at Brooklyn. Cameron Johnson scored eight points in 19 minutes. Day’Ron Sharpe didn’t play for the Nets (14–4).

Reggie Bullock had seven points and two 3-pointers for Dallas (10–8) in its 120–113 home loss to Memphis.

In the G League, Theo Pinson scored 27 points and three 3-pointers in 25 minutes as the Maine Celtics earned an easy 131–106 home victory over the Westchester Knicks.

Justin Jackson scored 18 points and three 3-pointers and collected four rebounds in the Texas Legends’ 104–98 home victory over Greensboro.

Jackson dished out a pro-career-high seven assists, which bettered his best previous G League total of four and his best NBA total of five. His best assist total at UNC was eight against Miami in a 15-point game Feb. 20, 2016.
