Tar Heels in NBA: Bulls roll with White’s 8th consecutive double-digit scoring game; Johnson, Jackson miss Suns’ win

By R.L. Bynum

Coby White scored in double figures for the eighth consecutive game as the Chicago Bulls rolled to a 133–87 home win Tuesday night over the Detroit Pistons.

White collected 13 points and three assists and continues to create tough decisions for Bulls management as the Feb. 10 trade deadline gets closer. He’s averaging 17 points in the last 10 games and shooting 51.4% from 3-point range in the last eight games.

With Lonzo Ball entrenched as Chicago’s starting point guard, does the team deal White and/or the injured Patrick Williams (recovering from wrist surgery) for a player such as Sacramento’s Harrison Barnes or Detroit’s Jerami Grant or do they keep White as one of the best sixth men in the league?

Barnes was mentioned in trade rumors last season but the Kings never dealt him. He’s come up in rumors again for the 16–27 Kings.

Among the other possible destinations mentioned in speculation are San Antonio and Dallas.

Chicago (27–11) leads the Eastern Conference by 2½ games over the Brooklyn Nets.

Tony Bradley contributed 10 points and seven rebounds in 10 minutes for Chicago.

Neither Cameron Johnson or Justin Jackson played in Phoenix’s 99–95 victory at Toronto.

Johnson missed the game with a left ankle sprain suffered in Saturday’s loss to Miami. Jackson didn’t travel with the team to Toronto for personal reasons and Coach Monty Williams said Jackson may rejoin the team Friday for its game at Indiana.
