Fans will get the chance to watch Drake Maye, the likely successor to Sam Howell at quarterback, as well as talented freshman running back George Pettaway at Saturday’s spring football event at Kenan Stadium.

Known this year as the #TyleeStrong Spring Football Game, it’s free to fans. The name is to show support for wide receiver Tylee Craft, who recently was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer.

The event starts at 3 p.m. (airing on ACC Network) but a Fan Fest around the Bell Tower that features interactive games for kids, music and more will run from 1 p.m. to 2:30.

The football activities will start with flex and individual drills and 7-on-7 competition until 3:30. The players will then head inside and reenter the stadium at 3:40.

Linebacker Kaimon Rucker, who was one of four athletes to sing the national anthem Saturday at the Final Four, will then sing the anthem again.

After honorary captains, including Craft, are announced, the game portion of the event, which will include a full-tackle scrimmage, starts and is expected to go until 5 p.m.

The scoring system for the game will be like last year, with points scored in the Carolina end zone going to Team Carolina and points scored in the Tar Heels end zone going to Team Tar Heels.

There will be free parking at the Craige Deck, as well as the Boshamer, Manning and Bowles lots. Parking at the Rams Head Deck will cost $5 or the regular hourly rate. There is ADA parking available at the Bell Tower Deck.
