The ACC announced game times for Carolina’s first three football games, starting with the Sept. 2 opener in Charlotte against South Carolina, which will start at 7:30 and air on ABC.
Carolina’s home opener against Appalachian State on Sept. 9 will kick off at 5:15 and air on ACC Network.
In the last of the Tar Heels’ early non-conference games, they face Minnesota at 3:30 on Sept. 16, either airing on ESPN or ESPN2.
The ACC also announced several other starting times later in the season, but not involving Carolina games, and also set the ACC championship game in Charlotte at 8 p.m. on ABC. The league also announced the schedule for its affiliated bowls (see below).
The opener is the 60th meeting between North Carolina and South Carolina, with the Tar Heels holding a 35–20–4 edge. The teams have split two games since Coach Mack Brown returned to UNC.
The Mountaineers’ visit marks the fourth game between the in-state schools and the third in five years, with UNC leading the series 2–1.
The game against the Gophers is the first meeting between the schools and the first contest of a home-and-home series, with the teams playing the 2024 opener in Minnesota.
