Nance reportedly signs with Cleveland

Looking to follow his father’s path, Pete Nance reportedly has signed a contract with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Nance will join the Cavaliers under an Exhibit 10 contract, according to cleveland.com. His father, Larry Nance Jr., played the last seven seasons of his 13-year NBA career in Cleveland and his No. 22 is retired.

A 6–10 forward, Pete Nance will be with Cleveland for the Summer League and training camp. Nance played nearby Cleveland at Akron’s Revere High School before playing at Northwestern and UNC.

The Exhibit 10 contract means that Nance will get a one-year, minimum-salary contract that can be converted to a two-way contract before the season starts. Under a two-way contract, Nance could play for both the Cavaliers and the G League Cleveland Charge.

Teams are limited to six Exhibit 10 contracts and three two-way deals.

Nance, whose brother Larry Nance Jr. plays for the New Orleans Pelicans, averaged 9.7 points, 5.5 rebounds and 1.7 assists during his five-year college career. Last season for UNC, he started in all 30 of his games, averaging 10 points and six rebounds while leading the Tar Heels with 34 blocks.

Former UNC star Danny Green finished last season on Cleveland’s roster.
