Set your DVR for some memorable UNC victories to air on ACC Network

If you enjoy watching Carolina win a national championship, beat Duke and N.C. State, Armando Bacot make history and Drake Maye work his magic, set your DVR for Carolina takeover day Saturday on the ACC Network.

Each conference school has one takeover day as the network replays the biggest victories aired on ESPN channels during the last school year during “ACC Network School Takeover.” It began Saturday with Wake Forest and ends July 15 with Boston College.

The highlight of the 11 games that air starting at midnight Saturday is the thrilling end of field hockey star Erin Matson’s career. She scored the game-winning goal with 1:19 left to give UNC a 2–1 win over Northwestern and yet another NCAA title (5 p.m.) Matson, of course, was named head coach to replace the legendary Karen Shelton two months later.

Four wins over Duke will air: a 3–1 volleyball win on Oct. 23 (9 a.m.), a 61–56 home women’s basketball victory on Jan. 19 (11 a.m.), a 13–12 women’s lacrosse win on April 20 (1 p.m.) and a 3–0 women’s soccer victory on Sept. 8 (3 p.m.).

There are two wins over N.C. State on the schedule: the thrilling rally from a five-run first-inning deficit for a 9–8 baseball win on May 12 (2 a.m.) and the 80–69 men’s basketball home win on Jan. 21, in which Bacot became the program’s all-time leading rebounder (10 p.m.).

One football game will be replayed: when Maye rallied the Tar Heels from a 10-point third-quarter deficit on Oct. 29 for a 42–24 home victory over Pittsburgh (8 p.m.).

Other games are the 30–9 home wrestling win on Jan. 27 over Virginia (midnight), the 1–0 men’s soccer win on Nov. 2 over Boston College in the ACC tournament (5 a.m.) and the 4–0 home softball win on March 11 over Virginia Tech.

Tar Heels fans shouldn’t tune in too early, though.

Friday is N.C. State takeover day, with UNC’s 30–27 two-overtime home football loss on Nov. 25 to the Wolfpack airing at 7 p.m. and the 77–69 men’s basketball loss on Feb. 19 at State being shown at 10 p.m.
