It hasn’t taken long for Cameron Johnson to find his form after missing seven games with a left calf contusion.
In his third game back in the Brooklyn lineup, Johnson scored 20 points and three 3-pointers with five rebounds, two assists and three steals as the Nets rolled to a 124–104 home victory Tuesday night over the Orlando Magic in a Group C game of the NBA In-Season Tournament.
“I got a couple wide-open looks from good players, good ball movement,” Johnson said. “Just a beneficiary of that.”
Johnson scored 11 of his points in the third quarter when he scored every point on a 7–0 Brooklyn run. Brooklyn pulled away by outscoring Orlando 36–18 in the fourth quarter.
“To see him and his ability to shoot the basketball, guard multiple positions, also get downhill, be disruptive on the defensive end the floor, and more length for us, is good to see him,” Nets coach Jacque Vaughn said.
Brooklyn (2–1 in pool play) also got a big game off the bench from Day’Ron Sharpe, who had a double-double with 11 points, 10 rebounds and a block in 24 minutes.
“I thought his minutes were very valuable tonight for our group on both ends of the floor,” Vaughn said of Sharpe.
Cole Anthony contributed 10 points, six rebounds and two assists but had six turnovers for Orlando.
Leaky Black played three minutes and missed his only two shots in Charlotte’s 111–105 Tuesday home loss to Miami.
In Chicago’s 118–109 loss at Milwaukee on Monday night, Coby White had 16 points, three 3-pointers, three rebounds, one assist and two steals.
In Sacramento’s 132–120 home win over Cleveland on Monday, Harrison Barnes had four points, five rebounds and three assists in 22 minutes.
In the G League on Tuesday night, Pete Nance had six points and four rebounds in 20 minutes as his Cleveland Charge lost 129–116 at Sioux Falls.
