Tar Heels in NBA: White keys late run, hits 22 for surging Bulls; Anthony has 18 points, 11 rebounds, 6 assists

By R.L. Bynum

Coby White scored 12 of his game-high 22 points in the fourth quarter, and Chicago pulled away for a 114–95 home victory Thursday over San Antonio.

It was the third consecutive win and eighth in the last 11 games for the Bulls (13–17), who have risen to 11th in the Eastern Conference.

“We never gave up; we never let the life flow out of us or anything like that,” said White, who had six rebounds and five assists. “The guys in this locker room continuously believe in each other. We continuously speak positive energy into each other, and we care about each other, and we want to win. That hasn’t changed throughout the entire season.”

White scored both of his 3-pointers in the fourth quarter, including one that capped a 15–5 run and gave Chicago a 90–75 edge.

Cole Anthony had an all-around good game with 18 points, 11 rebounds, six assists and two steals, but Orlando lost 118–114 Thursday at Milwaukee in the Bucks’ sixth consecutive victory.

It was the fourth consecutive loss for Orlando (16–11), which is 0–4 on a road trip that concludes with games at Indiana on Saturday and Washington on Tuesday.

Walker Kessler contributed four points, 10 rebounds and four blocks off the bench in Utah’s 119–11 win Thursday at Detroit. It was Kessler’s seventh game with at least four blocks.
