Tar Heels in pros: White scores 30 in another OT win for streaking Bulls; Nance has G League triple-double

By R.L. Bynum

Coby White just keeps stacking outstanding performances and has done so now in back-to-back overtime Chicago victories, while Pete Nance put up a triple-double in the G League.

White scored 30 points and five 3-pointers with eight assists and four rebounds as the Bulls beat the Houston Rockets 124–119 in overtime two nights after winning 119–112 at Philadelphia in another overtime game, with White scoring 27.

The Bulls have won three straight games with Zach LaVine back in the lineup. He had 25 points, 13 rebounds, seven assists, and three steals, and hit a huge 3-pointer with 1:46 left in overtime.

“Big-time players make big-time plays,” White said of LaVine. “He was aggressive. That’s what we want him to do.”

White scored 11 points and made all three 3-point attempts in the second quarter as Chicago built a 62–54 halftime lead.

LaVine is clearly glad to have White as a teammate.

“I’ve known Coby, what, six years?” LaVine told nba.com. “The way he’s playing right now, the growth of his game is incredible. The stretch he’s on, we want to keep him on that type of rhythm, obviously, and when I’m on the break, I have a sense of finding him on the break or pitching the ball to him when he’s behind me. That’s my guy. He’s been through a lot the last three, four years. So it’s good to see him where he is; it’s great.”

Houston Reggie Bullock didn’t play (coach’s decision) for the third consecutive game after playing in the previous three games.

In the G League, Pete Nance was spectacular in the Cleveland Charge’s 113–105 Wednesday road win over the Indiana Mad Ants with 27 points, five 3-pointers, 10 rebounds and 12 assists for his first triple-double.

Next up for the Charge is a home game Saturday night against the Texas Legends, who lost road games on successive nights against Raptors 905, 149–130 on Tuesday and 119–112 on Wednesday.

Justin Jackson had 27 points and four 3-pointers Tuesday and netted 18 points and three 3-pointers Wednesday. Theo Pinson had four points and 16 assists on Tuesday, then 10 points, 12 assists and three blocks on Wednesday. Tony Bradley was inactive for both games.

On Wednesday, Walker Kessler had eight points and four rebounds in Utah’s 124–111 home win over Denver.

Sacramento won back-to-back road games, 131–110 Tuesday at Detroit and 123–98 Wednesday at Charlotte. Harrison Barnes was scoreless Tuesday and had six points Wednesday.

In that Hornets game, Leaky Black played six scoreless minutes for Charlotte.

Cole Anthony had two points before coming out of Orlando’s 113–92 Tuesday home loss to Minnesota with a thigh contusion.
