The sixth season of Coach Mack Brown’s second stint as North Carolina’s coach will begin on the road with a game on Thursday night, Aug. 29, against Minnesota.

That matchup was previously announced and is part of the ACC’s Week 1 schedule that the league revealed Monday on ACC Network. The kickoff time and TV haven’t been announced.

Also on Aug. 29, Western Carolina visits N.C. State and N.C. A&T plays at Wake Forest.

On Friday, Aug. 30, Elon is at Duke and TCU is at Stanford. On Saturday, Aug. 31, UC Davis is at Cal, Georgia vs. Clemson at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia State at Georgia Tech, Austin Peay at Louisville, Miami at Florida, Kent State at Pitt, Houston Christian at SMU, Virginia Tech at Vanderbilt, Richmond at Virginia and Ohio at Syracuse.

Week 1 concludes with Boston College playing at Florida State on Sept. 2.

The ACC will announce Thursday and Friday league games during “ACC PM,” which airs at 4 p.m., on Tuesday. The league will reveal the full ACC schedule during a two-hour ACC Network special at 5 p.m. Wednesday.

The Carolina opener at Huntington Bank Stadium will be the second meeting between the programs after the Tar Heels rolled to a 31–13 victory last season on Sept. 16.

Carolina won three games after that to begin the season 6–0 before finishing 8–5 (4–4 ACC) with losses in the last three games.

The Gophers finished 6–7 (3–6 in the Big Ten), beating Bowling Green 30–24 at the Quick Lane Bowl in Detroit.

It will be the first time Carolina has started the season with a true road game since losing at Virginia Tech 17–10 in the first game of UNC’s 6–7 season in 2021.

The ACC season starts on Aug. 24 when reigning league champion Florida State meets Georgia Tech in the College Football Classic in Dublin, Ireland.
