North Carolina was among the final three schools being considered by Stanford guard Andrej Stojakovic, but he has committed to Cal, according to multiple Saturday reports.
The 6–7, 190-pound former McDonald’s All-American was also considering Kentucky. He is the son of former NBA All-Star Peja Stojakovic.
It may also have something to do with the indications that former Belmont guard Cade Tyson — who visited UNC last weekend — might be leaning toward committing to UNC.
As a freshman last season, Stojakovic started 10 of Stanford’s 32 games, averaging 7.8 points and 3.4 rebounds while shooting 47.1% from the floor and making 32.7% of his 3-point attempts.
From Carmichael, Calif, Stojakovic played for former UNC assistant coach Jerod Haase, who was fired after Stanford finished 14–18. He would be the second player in as many offseasons to transfer from Stanford to UNC after Harrison Ingram, who has entered his name into the NBA draft.
Stojakovic scored in double figures nine times last season, led by a 20-point, six-rebound, three-assist game on Feb. 10 in a 99–68 home win over USC. He scored at least three 3-pointers four times, including four in that victory over the Trojans.
