Ingram, Black start pair of Summer League games; half of 8 Tar Heels on teams play Monday

By R.L. Bynum

After a relatively quiet start for the Tar Heels in the NBA Summer League, the pace picks up starting Monday night, with half the eight UNC alums participating in the league in action.

Play started over the weekend, with San Antonio’s Harrison Ingram and Charlotte’s Leaky Black both starting in two games in Sacramento at the California Classic. Their teams played each other on Saturday.

Black had five points and five rebounds in 19 minutes as the Hornets beat the Spurs 97–65, with Ingram scoring three points on 1 of 6 shooting with seven rebounds in 26 minutes.

On Sunday, the Spurs lost to Sacramento Team 1 85–59, with Ingram going 5 of 13 from the floor in 28 minutes to score 11 points. He pulled down four rebounds and dished out two assists but was a team-worst -22.

Black again played 19 minutes Sunday as the Hornets moved to 2–0 with a 93–62 victory over China. He had seven points on 3 of 6 shooting with three rebounds, two assists, one steal and was +21, the second-best plus/minus.

Among the Tar Heels playing Monday include 2017 national champion Tony Bradley, who was added to the Philadelphia roster. Bradley, who has NBA experience, played in the G League last season with Justin Jackson and Theo Pinson on the Texas Legends.

The 76ers play the Oklahoma City Thunder at 7 p.m. Monday (ESPN) in Cormac Ryan’s Summer League debut in the Salt Lake City Summer League.

Also debuting Monday will be Armando Bacot, whose Utah Jazz team, which includes Walker Kessler, will face Memphis at 9 p.m. (ESPN) in Salt Lake City.

On Tuesday, teammates from last season’s UNC team will face off as Ryan and the Thunder face Bacot’s Jazz in Salt Lake City at 9 p.m. (ESPN2). Also on Tuesday, Philadelphia will take on Memphis in Salt Lake City at 7 p.m. (ESPN).
