The stars keep following Scott Jackson from Liberty to North Carolina.

On Saturday, catcher Macaddin Dye became the third Flames player to transfer to UNC since Jackson resigned as Liberty’s head coach to return to Chapel Hill as the Tar Heels’ assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.

“Thank you Liberty for an amazing first year,” Dye said in announcing his transfer decision Saturday evening on X (formerly Twitter). “After a lot of thought and consideration, I’m excited to announce that I will be continuing my academic and athletic career at the University of North Carolina! Let’s go Tar Heels!”

Dye, who made the Conference USA All-Freshman team, follows outfielder Sawyer Black and right-handed pitcher Cale Bolton in moving from the Lynchburg, Va., school to Carolina.

As a freshman last season, the 6–1, 205-pound Dye hit .365 with six home runs, and 49 RBI in 256 at-bats over 57 games after helping Cox High School in Virginia Beach win a Virginia state Class 5 title in 2023.

Catcher Luke Stevenson returns next season for UNC after an outstanding freshman season but will be eligible for next summer’s MLB Draft. D1 Baseball projects Stevenson as the No. 11 college player for the 2025 draft after he hit .284 with 14 home runs, 58 RBI and 48 walks in 65 games last season.
