Five-star wing Agot Makeer, the No. 6-ranked girls player in the Class of 2025, has North Carolina among the final six schools she is considering.

Her list, according to On3.com, is down to UNC, which she has already visited, two-time reigning national champion South Carolina, Duke, Michigan State, Kentucky and UConn. She retweeted a link to the story. That cut her list in half, eliminating UCLA, Notre Dame, Michigan, Virginia Tech, Louisville and Vanderbilt.

The 6–1 Makeer is from Thunder Bay, Ontario, and plays for Crestwood Prep in Toronto. Last month, she averaged 17.7 points, seven rebounds and 2.3 assists in seven games to lead Canada to the silver medal at the FIBA Women’s U17 World Cup in Mexico.

Here’s what Makeer told On3.com about Carolina:

“I feel like I have a really good relationship with Coach [Courtney] Banghart,” she said. “If I were to go there, I know she’d do something really good with me and she’s great with player development. I really loved my visit there and I’m excited to keep going with the process.”

In the gold-medal game on July 21, she had 10 points, 10 rebounds and three steals in Canada’s 84–64 loss to Lanie Grant’s United States team. Grant, an incoming freshman point guard at UNC, had six points in the game.

Makeer scored more than 20 points four times in the event, including 28 against Egypt. She had two double-doubles, collecting 21 points and 12 rebounds against Spain, in addition to her effort against the Americans.
