Zayden High, a 6-9 forward from San Antonio, Texas, is not enrolled at UNC, the school announced on Tuesday.
High collected 18 points and had 26 rebounds in 23 games for Carolina as a freshman last season. He scored a season-high four points against Florida State in the quarterfinals of the ACC tournament and played season-high 12 minutes against Lehigh and Oklahoma.
His departure leaves Carolina with five frontcourt players in graduate Jae’lyn Withers, senior transfer Tyzhaun Claude, juniors Jalen Washington and Ven-Allen Lubin and freshman James Brown.
As a senior, High helped Arizona Compass Prep finish 19-9 and make the GEICO National Championships. He averaged 17.1 points and 9.2 rebounds in three seasons at Smithson Valley High School in Spring Beach, Texas.
High, ranked No. 70 in the 247Sports Class of 2023, made his official visit to UNC on Sept. 30, 2022, committed to UNC on Oct. 16, 2022, and signed a letter of intent to play for UNC on Nov. 9, 2022.
Before committing to Carolina, High made official visits to Michigan and Villanova.
