Armando Bacot is one of four players who signed Exhibit 10 contracts Friday with the Memphis Grizzlies.
The team announced the signing of the 6–11, 240-pound two-time All-ACC center, along with Japanese League star guard Yuki Kawamura, former Utah Jazz guard Miye Oni and forward Maozinha Pereira, who played seven games for the Grizzlies last season.
With an Exhibit 10 contract, Bacot gets a one-year contract at a minimum NBA salary, and his deal could be converted to a two-way contract before the season starts. Training camps open on Oct. 1, and the Grizzlies’ first exhibition game is Oct. 7 at Dallas.
Memphis picked Purdue star center Zach Edey in the first round of the 2024 NBA draft as the ninth overall selection.
Other centers competing for roster spots are Brandon Clarke, former Virginia star Mamadi Diakite and Santi Aldama. Jaren Jackson Jr. is expected to start at the four spot, with other power forwards vying for roster spots Vince Williams Jr., Jake Laravia and GG Jackson II. GG Jackson II, a former South Carolina player and one-time UNC commit, had surgery to repair a broken fifth metatarsal in his right foot and is out for at least three months.
Bacot played four games for the Utah Jazz’s Summer League team, scoring 29 points in 62½ minutes over four games, with 20 rebounds, five steals and three assists.
Bacot is the all-time UNC leader in rebounds (1,715), offensive rebounds (593) and double-doubles (87) and has the second-most points with 2,347. His double-doubles total is tied with Wake Forest’s Tim Duncan for the most in ACC history.
