Ty Chandler ran for 82 yards and Javonte Williams collected 62 total yards to highlight Week 2, but what would have been a compelling matchup between Sam Howell and Drake Maye never materialized.
Howell and Maye exchanged jerseys on the field after Howell’s Seattle Seahawks pulled out a 23–20 overtime road victory over Maye’s New England Patriots. Neither former UNC quarterback got into the game.
Chandler’s big day helped Minnesota earn a 23–17 home win over San Francisco, getting a team-high 10 carries off the bench and 8.2 fantasy points. At one point, he ran on three consecutive plays for 37 yards. Playing the wildcat on one play, he was sacked for a one-yard loss.
In Denver’s 13–6 loss at Pittsburgh, Williams had 11 carries for 17 yards and caught all five passes targeted to him for 48 yards to give him 11.5 fantasy points.
Williams has struggled running the ball through two games, with only 40 yards on 19 carries. Sunday was his 12th consecutive game averaging fewer than four yards per carry and the fifth in the last six with fewer than three yards per carry.
Second-year Colts wide receiver Josh Downs is still working his way back from a high ankle sprain and missed his second game in a row. Houston safety M.J. Stewart missed his second consecutive game as he battles knee and quadriceps injuries.
Dyami Brown started instead of Olamide Zaccheus at wide receiver for Washington, and had two catches on four targets for 17 yards in the Commanders’ 21–18 home win over the New York Giants. Brown played 54 total snaps.
For the Giants, offensive lineman Joshua Ezeudu played one special-teams snap. Linebacker Tomon Fox made his season debut after being activated from the practice squad but had no statistics in 19 special-teams snaps.
Quarterback Mitch Trubisky made his season debut for Buffalo in the Bills’ 31–10 Thursday win at Miami, but only to make a handoff and kneel twice at the end of the game. Wide receiver Mack Hollins, who caught a touchdown pass in Week 1, had no catches on one target, playing 32 offensive snaps and 10 special-teams snaps.
Rookie Storm Duck played four defensive snaps and seven special-teams snaps with no statistics for the Dolphins.
