The new 18-school ACC will mean a women’s basketball schedule unlike any in North Carolina program history, and doesn’t conclude with a game against Duke.
Games against UConn in Greensboro at 6 p.m. on Nov. 15 and Kentucky in Carmichael Arena at 5 p.m. on Dec. 5 highlight the non-conference schedule ahead of UNC’s ACC opener at home against Georgia Tech at 2 p.m. on Dec. 15.
Carolina, which went 20–13 last season and made the NCAA tournament, may play the first college basketball game of the season — men or women — when it plays Charleston Southern in its opener at 11 a.m. on Nov. 4.
Twice during the ACC season, UNC will play three consecutive road games, but they also play three straight home games during the league schedule, and four of the first five ACC games are at home.

With the ACC continuing a 20-game women’s schedule, Duke will be the only conference opponent that UNC will play home and away (Jan. 9 in Chapel Hill and Feb. 27 in Durham). For the first time in years, UNC won’t finish the regular season with a game against Duke. Instead, the Tar Heels host Virginia at 4 p.m. on March 2.
For the first time in program history, UNC won’t play N.C. State — or any other ACC team besides Duke — twice. The Tar Heels have played the Wolfpack at least twice every season, including the first official UNC season in 1975 when the Tar Heels won at N.C. State 74–47 in the program’s first official game.
Carolina’s only meeting with the Wolfpack will be in Carmichael Arena at 2 p.m. on Feb. 16.
While UNC’s men’s team doesn’t have to make the long trips to face the first-year ACC members. the women’s team plays all three on the road: SMU (Jan. 16), Cal (Jan. 30) and Stanford (Feb. 2). Other road opponents are Miami (Dec. 29), Pittsburgh (Jan. 19), Clemson (Feb. 9), Syracuse (Feb. 20) and Louisville (Feb. 23).
Other home opponents in addition to Georgia Tech and Virginia are Notre Dame (Jan. 5), Boston College (Jan. 12), Wake Forest (Jan. 23), Florida State (Jan. 26) and Virginia Tech (Feb. 13).
