The Bill Belichick era at North Carolina hasn’t just energized the Tar Heels on the field — it’s set the secondary ticket market on fire.
According to a Sportscasting.com analysis of secondary markets, UNC football boasts the highest average “get-in” price for home games in the ACC for the upcoming season, coming in at $118.17. That’s more than double the ACC average of $58.85.
Every seat at Kenan Memorial Stadium is sold out for all six home games, forcing fans eager to see the action in person to turn to the secondary market, where prices are soaring.
Earlier this month, Oddspedia’s College Football Index indicated that the increase in face-value ticket prices compared to last season is 56.1%, the highest in the country.
The most expensive home game of the year on secondary markets so far is the Nov. 22 showdown with Duke, where the cheapest ticket starts at $173. The Oct. 4 clash against No. 4 Clemson isn’t far behind at $163. The home opener against TCU comes in at $115, the third-highest of the season.
The gap between UNC and the rest of the ACC is striking.
Carolina football tickets are nearly 400% more expensive than Duke’s ($23.67), 127% higher than Virginia’s ($52.00) and 23% higher than N.C. State’s ($95.71). Florida State, the only other ACC team averaging above $100, sits just behind UNC at $117.29.
Belichick’s arrival has brought a wave of excitement to Chapel Hill, turning Tar Heel football into the ACC’s ultimate premium ticket, which is exciting at the same time that it’s stretching their wallets.
