UNC freshman Wilson signs endorsement deal with New Balance

By R.L. Bynum

UNC freshman Caleb Wilson has signed a shoe endorsement contract with New Balance.

Wilson confirmed the deal on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday morning by quote-tweeting a report by ESPN’s Shams Charania that he had signed a multi-year, multi-million-dollar endorsement deal with the company, with the words “NB Family!!!”

It will be similar to what Cooper Flagg did when he played for Duke, which is a Nike school, and signed a reported $13-million deal with New Balance. Carolina is also a Nike school. Wilson, like Flagg, will wear Nikes during games.

Flagg was the first overall pick in the 2025 NBA draft and Wilson, a four-star recruit, is projected to be a lottery pick in the 2026 NBA draft.

Wilson, a 6–10, 215-pound power forward, was the No. 5 overall player in ESPN’s Class of 2025 rankings, and is known for his relentless play and dogged play on defense.

At Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School in the Atlanta area, he was a McDonald’s All-American and Mr. Georgia Basketball in 2025, averaging 21.6 points, 11.1 rebounds, 5 assists, 3.6 blocks and 2.1 steals in leading his team to a state title.

He scored 28 points and pulled down six rebounds in March at the Jordan Brand Classic in Washington.
