Seth Trimble is now a business owner.
He delivered the scoop on the news with his Instagram post on Sunday, announcing that he is the owner of the Ben & Jerry’s location in downtown Chapel Hill.
Trimble, the leader of the UNC team as a senior and one of the few returnees, did a photo shoot at the store on Friday afternoon to celebrate. He still took time to greet fans and have his photo taken with them.
“In the recent months, I have been blessed with the opportunity to fulfill one of my many dreams and aspirations of entrepreneurship,” wrote Trimble, who turned 21 in early August and is the youngest owner in the history of the chain.
The post included a photo with him, his parents, Trevor and Laurence, Antonio McBroom, who sold the store to Trimble, and McBroom’s wife, Katie.
The ice cream shop is at 102 West Franklin Street.
“I’m extremely grateful to officially be able to say that I am now an owner of the Ben & Jerry’s store on Franklin St. 🐄🍦,” Trimble wrote. “The main goal is always the main goal, but I’m excited to stamp myself in a different way at this university. I am honored to reinvest in the community that has given so much to me. Go get y’all’s Ben & Jerry’s!”
Part of the post was a video of McBroom, the owner of multiple Ben & Jerry’s locations, ceremonially passing the scoop on to Trimble.
“Here and now, I feel like it’s an even more golden opportunity to be able to pass the scoop to the shop’s new owner, Seth Trimble, and his family,” McBroom said.
Trimble responded with thanks.
“I give a big thanks to my guy, Antonio McBroom,” Trimble said. “He’s always looked out for me. I’ll make sure I look out for this store like you did in the past.”
