Quarterback Gio Lopez is listed as questionable for the Clemson game in the ACC availability report released on Thursday night.
Defensive end Pryce Yates is listed as probable. The former UConn star hasn’t played a game since transferring after suffering a concussion during the preseason. In 32 games for the Huskies, he collected 12½ sacks and 29½ tackles for losses and had three tackles and a sack in the Fenway Bowl win over Carolina.
Lopez has struggled to find a rhythm, completing 42 of 67 passes for three touchdowns and three interceptions and a 122.42 passer rating, with 45 net rushing yards. He injured his right leg in the 34–9 loss at UCF on Sept. 20.
Backup quarterback Max Johnson has appeared in both of Carolina’s losses, also against TCU, after Lopez got hurt. In a small sample size, Johnson is 20 of 30 for 170 yards, two touchdowns, no interceptions and a 136.27 passer rating.
Also listed as questionable for North Carolina for Saturday’s ACC opener against Clemson is offensive lineman Aidan Banfield.
Clemson offensive guard Elyjah Thurmon, who has been sharing time at right guard with Walker Parks, is listed as out.
The ACC is requiring both teams to issue injury reports for each conference game this year.
Players whose status was under question are listed as:
— Available when they are fully available to play.
— Probable when they are likely to play or there is greater than a 50% chance that they will play.
— Questionable when it’s uncertain if they will play or there is less than a 50% chance.
— Out when they will not play.
— Game-time decision when the call will be made closer to the game.
