RJ Davis had a productive preseason debut for the Los Angeles Lakers on Friday night.
In the Lakers’ 103–81 loss to the Phoenix Suns at the Acrisure Arena in Palm Desert, Calif., he put up the team’s second-highest point total with 14 points, only surpassed by the 20 points from expected starter Austin Reaves.
In just over 18 minutes, Davis was 5 of 8 from the floor, made 1 of 2 3-point attempts and all three free-throw attempts with one steal.
Davis is on a two-way contract, and is likely to play most of his games for the South Bay Lakers in the G League, which plays its games in El Segundo, Calif.
You’ll be able to watch Davis in his next preseason game at 8:30 Sunday when ESPN televises the Lakers’ game at Golden State.
Cameron Johnson makes his Denver Nuggets debut tonight at 9 o’clock in a preseason game against Minnesota in San Diego.
Leaky Black signed an Exhibit 10 contract with the Washington Wizards after spending all of last season with the team’s G League affiliate, the Capital City Go-Go, and will have the chance to earn a two-way roster spot. The Wizards’ 3 p.m. Sunday preseason opener with Toronto will be shown on NBATV.
