How to watch UNC’s next two football games on The CW

By R.L. Bynum

If you plan to watch North Carolina’s next two football games, now’s the time to figure out your CW affiliate.

The Tar Heels kick off at 4:30 p.m. the next two Saturdays — hosting Stanford this weekend and visiting Wake Forest on Nov. 15. Both games will air on The CW, a national network that launched in 2006.

Last academic year, the network carried three Carolina football games, three men’s basketball games and one women’s basketball game. This season, The CW will televise two UNC men’s basketball matchups: Dec. 13 vs. USC Upstate and Jan. 3 at SMU.

On the call for both football games will be play-by-play announcer Thom Brennaman, analyst Will Blackmon and sideline reporter Wes Bryant.

Unlike ESPN or ACC Network broadcasts, you shouldn’t have to worry about late-running games forcing you to either miss the kickoff or switch to another channel to see the start of UNC’s game.

The CW’s lead-in both weeks is a men’s basketball game starting at 1:30 p.m.: Western Carolina at No. 6 Duke this Saturday and Butler at SMU on Nov. 15. That leaves plenty of buffer before UNC takes the field.

If your provider doesn’t carry The CW, your best options are an over-the-air antenna or a trip to the stadium. Otherwise, tune in to Jones Angell’s call on the Tar Heel Sports Network.
