N.C. A&T results:
— 79–40 Nov. 3 loss at Texas Tech
— 82–43 Nov. 6 loss at TCU
— 71–64 Nov. 9 loss at New Mexico
— 77–28 Nov. 12 win vs. Shaw (Division II)
— 74–43 Sunday win vs. Winston-Salem State (Division II)
Notes
— N.C. A&T’s Tarrell Robinson was the CAA Coach of the Year last season after the Aggies went 19–12 and 15–3 in the league, losing 61–45 at Virginia Tech in the first round of the postseason WBIT. The Aggies are picked third in the 13-team CAA.
— The Aggies’ only two wins have come at home against Division II competition (77–28 against Shaw and 74–43 against Winston-Salem State), with road losses against Texas Tech (78–40), TCU (82–43) and New Mexico (71–64).
— A&T has scored 29.5% of its points at the free-throw line but is shooting only 65.2% at the line.
— This is the second consecutive season UNC has played at A&T after winning 66–47 on Nov. 12 last season.
— There will likely be more fans at Thursday’s game than at either of the Tar Heels’ games in Las Vegas at the WBCA Challenge. While last season’s game in Greensboro drew 3,593 fans, the UCLA game last week drew 1,588 fans and the Fairfield game 2,116.
— This is Carolina’s first true road game of the season. Their second one is Dec. 4 in the ACC/SEC Women’s Challenge against No. 4 Texas. UNC is 4–2 in road openers under Coach Courtney Banghart, with the four wins coming in the last four seasons.
— UNC senior Indya Nivar leads UNC in scoring at 11.8 points per game and redshirt sophomore Ciera Toomey is second at 11.0, while leading the team in rebounding at 8.5 per game.
— Five Tar Heels have scored in double figures in three of their four games and eight have double-figure-scoring games.
— Carolina, which has a 1.18 assist-to-turnover ratio with a +8.5 turnover margin (36th in the country), should create plenty of turnovers to fuel its transition game. UNC is forcing 21.25 turnovers per game, which is third in the ACC and 81st in the country, and scoring 21.75 points off turnovers. Through five games, A&T has 55 assists against 109 turnovers, a 0.50 ratio that is 314th out of 359 in the country. The Aggies’ turnover margin of -2.6 is 275th in the country.
