Jaydon Young will return for his senior season at North Carolina.
On Monday, Young posted on Instagram an On3 report that he intended to enter the transfer portal, but On3’s Joe Tipton reported on Friday night that he withdraw his name and will return. That reduces the number of Tar Heels in the transfer portal to six.
During his junior season at Carolina, after two seasons at Virginia Tech, Young started four times and scored 55 points over 31 games. His only game scoring in double figures was when he played a season-high 20 minutes and scored 12 points in the 87–84 home win over Wake Forest on Jan. 10.
After Carolina’s losses at Stanford and California, Young started the next four games, all victories, but played between seven and 14 minutes in those games and combined for five points.
He played at Greensboro Day School before averaging 5.3 points in two seasons at Virginia Tech, scoring a career-high 27 points for the Hokies in a Feb. 22, 2025 victory at Miami and 26 in a March 1, 2025, home win over Syracuse.

Roster assuming all players with eligibility other than Caleb Wilson, Henri Veesaar and the seven players who entered the transfer portal return, which would put UNC one under the 15-player limit. The class for next season is listed.
