Coach Kim Mulkey and her LSU team will visit North Carolina as part of next season’s ACC/SEC Women’s Challenge.
The teams will meet at Carmichael Arena on Wednesday, Dec. 2, in the first game between the schools since 2016, and the fourth meeting overall.
The Tar Heels are 1–2 in the Challenge after losing 65–58 at home to South Carolina in 2023, beating Kentucky 72–53 at home in 2024, and losing at Texas 79–64 last season.
LSU has won 25 games in each of the last five seasons and made the Sweet 16 the last four seasons, while Coach Courtney Banghart’s Tar Heels have gone to back-to-back Sweet 16s.
Mulkey has won two national championships as a player and four as a head coach, three of those at Baylor and one at LSU, and has been the AP Coach of the Year three times.
LSU has won all three meetings with UNC, the last a 70–43 win for the Tigers in Myrtle Beach in 2016. LSU won 79–63 in the Crawfish Classic in Baton Rouge during the 1986–87 season and 56–50 in the 2008 Elite Eight.
LSU also faces N.C. State on Nov. 27 or 28 at the Fort Myers Tipoff.
UNC’s eight returnees are joined by transfers Achol Akot, Sophie Burrows, Chloe Clardy and Gabby White and incoming freshmen Noelle Bofia and Kate Harpring.
The other Challenge games on Dec. 2 are: Louisville at Texas, Miami at Florida, Georgia at SMU, N.C. State at Ole Miss and Stanford at Auburn. The matchups on Thursday, Dec. 3, are: South Carolina at Duke, Notre Dame at Vanderbilt, Tennessee at Virginia Tech, Clemson at Kentucky, Oklahoma at Syracuse, Wake Forest at Arkansas, Missouri at Florida State, Texas A&M at California, Georgia Tech at Alabama and Virginia at Mississippi State.
