Britt Whitmire joins R.L. Bynum for launch of the ‘Tar Heel Tribune Podcast’

Tar Heel Tribune is adding another way for Carolina fans to follow the Tar Heels, launching the “Tar Heel Tribune Podcast” with hosts Britt Whitmire and R.L. Bynum.

The new show, introduced with the trailer below, will give Tar Heel Tribune’s audience a conversational companion to the site’s written coverage of Carolina athletics with interviews, opinions and insights. Also below is Episode 1 with Michael Norwood, who played for Dean Smith in the 1980s and had some terrific stories about him and Michael Jordan.

Britt, a longtime popular radio and podcast host, and R.L. will bring familiar voices to discussions about UNC sports, with the podcast reflecting the same broad approach that has defined Tar Heel Tribune’s coverage, extending beyond men’s basketball and football while giving regular attention to women’s basketball, baseball and other Carolina programs.

Subscribe for a cleaner, smoother reading experience without the flashing banners, slow-loading elements, or those especially annoying pop‑up ads that interrupt the flow of the story. You’ll also get the first version of each story emailed to you. The only ads you’ll see are static, non-intrusive ads for UNC‑related books, and there are none currently on the site.

Britt entertained us for years on the “Brad and Britt Show” and the “Brad and Britt Podcast.” That podcast only ended because of the sad death of Brad Krantz. Listeners of that podcast know that Britt is a longtime Carolina fan with a clear disdain for Duke.

For Tar Heel fans, the podcast offers another entry point into the stories, personalities and developments around UNC athletics. The format will allow Britt and R.L. to go beyond game stories and breaking news, adding analysis, perspective and discussion in a more relaxed setting.

Tar Heel Tribune has built its identity around covering Carolina sports across the athletic department for nearly six years. The podcast gives that coverage a new platform, creating a place for longer conversations about the programs, players, coaches and issues that shape each season.
