RJ Davis played well against his former team in the NBA Summer League on Monday, even though his San Antonio Spurs couldn’t get the win.
Davis scored 18 points and finished with a team‑best plus‑minus of +10 in the Los Angeles Lakers’ 88–84 victory in San Francisco.
Davis, averaging 11.8 points through three games, started and logged nearly 29½ minutes, hitting 7 of 16 shots (2 of 7 on 3‑pointers) while adding three rebounds and an assist, and his steady play down the stretch kept the Spurs within striking distance. He split a pair of free throws with 14 seconds left to cut the Spurs’ deficit to three.
Davis was held to two points in 21 minutes on Sunday in the Spurs’ 89–69 loss to the Golden State Warriors’ Gold team and was a team-low -22.
After collecting five points and three rebounds in his Summer League debut on Saturday, Henri Veesaar scored two and had seven rebounds Monday in Atlanta’s 82–77 win over the Oklahoma City Thunder in Salt Lake City.
Veesaar, who hasn’t started in either game, was 1‑for‑4 shooting, missing his only 3-point attempt.

Drake Powell’s shooting struggles in Sacramento continued in his Brooklyn Nets’ 100–79 loss to the Golden State Warriors’ Gold team.
In just under 23½ minutes, Powell finished with two points on 1‑for‑8 shooting (0‑for‑4 on 3‑pointers), four rebounds and one steal, and he was +20. Through two Summer League games, Powell is 1-of-17 from the floor and 0-for-9 from 3-point range.
The Milwaukee Bucks lost 95–89 to the Sacramento Kings in Sacramento, but neither Cormac Ryan nor Pete Nance played. Ryan is still with the team but was inactive for the game, while the Bucks released Nance over the weekend.
In the only game involving a Tar Heel on Tuesday, Veesaar’s Hawks face the Memphis Grizzlies at 7 p.m. in Salt Lake City (ESPNU).

The Las Vegas schedule reflects each team’s first four Summer League games there, which count toward tournament seeding. The top four teams advance to the semifinals July 18, with the championship game July 19. TV assignments for several later-round games were still to be determined.
Note that an experimental one-free-throw rule is in place. One, two and three free-throw sequences produce a single attempt worth the same total points, except for the final two minutes of the fourth quarter and all overtime periods when standard free‑throw rules apply.
