It’s not often that high draft picks play more than two NBA Summer League games, and Caleb Wilson took full advantage of that chance on Tuesday night. Drake Powell broke out of a horrible shooting slump in a Nets win, and Seth Trimble had his best game of the summer.
For the second consecutive night, Wilson, the No. 4 pick in this year’s NBA Draft, was denied a chance to face another top-four draft pick. Monday, No. 2 pick Darryn Peterson didn’t play for Utah, and Tuesday, No. 1 pick AJ Dybantsa didn’t play for Washington.
“I feel like I’m different than all of them. Not to say they don’t, but I enjoy basketball. I love this shit. I’m going to play as much as I can,” Wilson said.
Instead of facing Dybantsa, he battled former teammate Trimble, who got his first start for the Wizards.

Wilson was dazzling again in leading the Chicago Bulls to their first win in three tries, 99–87. Wilson collected 19 points, two 3-pointers, eight rebounds, three assists and a block. That gave him impressive three-game totals: 24.3 points, 59.9% from the floor, 48% from 3-point range with seven rebounds, 3.0 blocks and 1.3 steals.
“People come from all over the world to see me play, so I don’t want to let them down,” Wilson said.
Chicago has two more games: 6 p.m. Thursday against the Los Angeles Lakers (Prime Video) and a consolation game at 7 p.m. Friday against the Cleveland Cavaliers (ESPN).
Wilson and former Duke star Cameron Boozer, the No. 3 pick, are the only top four picks who have played more than two games. Boozer is averaging 17.8 points and 6.4 rebounds through five games for the Memphis Grizzlies.
Trimble played nearly 28 minutes, his most extensive playing time of the Summer League, and produced.
After scoring 10 points in his first two games, he netted 13 on Tuesday despite making only two field goals (including one 3-pointer). That’s because he made all four free-throw attempts, and, under the experimental rule (see explanation below the summaries at the bottom of the story), they were worth eight points.
Trimble added three rebounds, two assists and two steals and soared through the lane for a first-quarter dunk.
Powell entered the Brooklyn Nets’ 115–83 Tuesday win over the Sacramento Kings 1-of-38 from the floor and had missed all 17 3-point attempts through four games.
That all changed, as Powell — who had 11 points total in his first four games — scored 18 points on 6-of-10 shooting, going 4-of-7 from 3-point range while adding two steals and a block.
There are three games involving Tar Heels on Wednesday, with Cormac Ryan, Pete Nance and the Milwaukee Bucks facing the Charlotte Hornets at 7:30 (Prime Video), RJ Davis’ San Antonio Spurs taking on the Utah Jazz at 9:30 (Prime Video) and Trimble’s Wizards facing the Los Angeles Clippers at 10:30 (ESPN).

The Las Vegas schedule reflects each team’s first four Summer League games there, which count toward tournament seeding. The top four teams advance to the semifinals July 18, with the championship game July 19. TV assignments for several later-round games were still to be determined.
Note that an experimental one-free-throw rule is in place. One, two and three free-throw sequences produce a single attempt worth the same total points, except for the final two minutes of the fourth quarter and all overtime periods when standard free‑throw rules apply.
