Hubert Davis grand marshal for Sunday’s NASCAR race

By R.L. Bynum

It will be a busy weekend for Coach Hubert Davis with a good bit of live action.

After his Carolina men’s basketball team participates Friday in Live Action with Carolina Basketball, he will be the grand marshal at the Roval 400 NASCAR race Sunday. It’s a 400-kilometer race with 109 laps of a 2.28-mile infield road course at Charlotte Motor Speedway and will air on NBC.

Davis will give the command to the drivers to start their engines at the NASCAR playoff race, which starts at 2 p.m.

It is the second and final race in the round of 12 part of the playoffs. The playoffs will be down to eight drivers after the race.

First up, though will be Live Action, which is set for 7:30 on Friday night, featuring Davis’ men’s basketball team and Coach Courtney Banghart’s women’s basketball team.
