Tar Heels in pros: Barnes hits 25 for surging Kings; Sharpe, Jackson notch G League double-doubles; Johnson back after missing 12 games

By R.L. Bynum

It was a wildly successful week in Houston for Harrison Barnes and the Sacramento Kings.

After scoring 13 points in the Kings’ 121–118 road win over the Rockets on Wednesday, he collected 25 points and three assists in Sacramento’s 122–117 victory on Friday for the team’s fourth win in five games.

The Kings (29–49) are 3½ games out of a spot in the Western Conference play-in tournament and 2½ games behind the Los Angeles Lakers.

It was Barnes’ 25th game this season with at least 20 points and ninth with at least 25. His 18.3 game score was his 19th of at least 18 this season.

Day’Ron Sharpe and Justin Jackson both put up double-doubles in the G League.

Thursday for the Long Island Nets in their 114–99 home win over Raptors 905, Sharpe had 15 points and 14 rebounds in 24 minutes.

Friday in the Texas Legends’ 103–91 road win over the Salt Lake City Stars, Jackson collected 18 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists.

Cole Anthony had 12 points, five rebounds and four assists in Wednesday’s 127–110 loss at Washington. In Friday’s 102–89 home loss to Toronto, he had four points, four rebounds and three assists.

Reggie Bullock’s offensive production tailed off in the last two games after combining for 40 in the previous two games. In Wednesday’s 120–112 win at Cleveland, he had nine points, three 3-pointers, four rebounds and three assists. Bullock had eight points, two 3-pointers, four rebounds and two assists in Friday’s 135–103 loss at Washington.

In Philadelphia’s 102–94 Thursday loss at Detroit, Danny Green went scoreless for the ninth time this season, missing three 3-point attempts with two rebounds and a steal.

Cameron Johnson returned to action Friday for Phoenix after missing 12 games with a right quad contusion. In 17 minutes off the bench, he had one point on 0 of 5 shooting with three rebounds and three assists in the Suns’ 122–114 loss at Memphis.

Johnson is expected to be at the Superdome for Carolina’s national semifinal against Duke as well as Portland’s Nassir Little, who is out for the season.

In Chicago’s 135–130 Thursday home win over the Los Angeles Clippers, Coby White scored 11 points in 23 minutes and Tony Bradley didn’t play (coach’s decision.)
