Love checks off big social-media goal

You can give Caleb Love a blue checkmark even if it isn’t Carolina blue.

And you can rest assured that when you see a tweet from the @caleb2love account, you’re reading the words of the Carolina guard who will be back for his junior season.

Over the last year or so, Twitter has become more selective about which Twitter accounts it verifies. But, much like some of the lengthy 3-point attempts Love took last season, he decided last month to give it a shot and see if he the social-media service would do that for him.

On April 11, he posted a tweet that read: “can I get verified @Twitter? #thankyouinadvance.”

It took 22 days, but the @verified Twitter account replied “GDTBATH” (good day to be a Tar Heel) late Monday morning and Love is verified and has a blue checkmark.

Could there be a Tar Heels fan over at Twitter?

Love replied, “appreciate you @Twitter.”

The service is in the midst of big change because of Elon Musk’s $44 billion takeover of the service. No word if he even cares about college basketball.
