Kelly, Ustby earn All-ACC honors

By R.L. Bynum

Carolina senior co-captains Deja Kelly and Alyssa Ustby have earned All-ACC honors that the league announced Tuesday.

Kelly is on the 10-player first team for a third consecutive season, while Ustby is on the second team for the second time in three seasons after making the first team last season.

Kelly leads the Tar Heels in scoring at 16.8 points per game and is second in assists (3.4) and steals (1.4), and Ustby leads the team in rebounding (9.5 per game), assists (3.6) and steals (1.7) and is second on the team in scoring (12.3).

UNC sophomore Indya Nivar finished third in the Sixth Player of the Year voting, behind winner Oluchi Okananwa of Duke.

Virginia Tech center Elizabeth Kitley is the ACC Player of the Year for the third consecutive season, Notre Dame guard Hannah Hidalgo is the ACC Freshman of the Year, and Syracuse’s Felisha Legette-Jack is the ACC Coach of the Year. Pitt’s Liatu King is the Most Improved Player.

Kitley becomes just the third player in league history to earn ACC Player of the Year honors in three straight seasons, joining Duke’s Alana Beard (2002–04) and Maryland’s Alyssa Thomas (2012–14).

Also on the first team, in addition to Kelly, Kitley and Hidalgo are Syracuse’s Daisha Fair, Virginia Tech’s Georgia Amoore, Florida State’s Ta’Niya Latson, N.C. State’s Aziaha James and Seniya Rivers, Florida State’s Makayla Timpson and Pittsburgh’s Liatu King.

Joining Ustby on the second team were Notre Dame’s Maddy Westbeld, Clemson’s Amari Robinson, Notre Dame’s Sonia Cintron, Louisville’s Kiki Jefferson, Virginia’s Kymora Johnson, Georgia Tech’s Tonie Morgan and Kara Dunn, Duke’s Reigan Richardson and Louisville’s Oliva Cochran.
