North Carolina added a needed frontcourt player for the start of the Michael Malone era, getting a Tuesday commitment from former Florida Atlantic big man Maxim Logue, according to multiple reports.
Logue, a 6–9 center from Lyon, France, comes to Chapel Hill with two seasons of eligibility remaining, providing the Tar Heels a young, physical interior option who has already shown he can produce in short bursts.
Earlier on Tuesday, UNC got commitments from former Utah point guard Terrence Brown and former N.C. State guard Matt Able.
UNC obviously hopes that Logue will back up Henri Veesaar, but the former Arizona center is expected to enter his name in the NBA draft and go through the process.
At FAU, Logue was low-usage finisher who lives around the rim, runs the floor and converts high-percentage shots. Last season, he averaged 4.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 11.2 minutes per game while shooting 67.4% from the field.
Before FAU, he played at Oregon State. He now becomes part of UNC’s broader portal reconstruction under Malone — a roster that has leaned heavily on newcomers to fill holes created by departures and offseason churn.
His career-high was an 18-point, 10-rebound performance on April 1, 2025, in the College Basketball Crown touranmetn for Oregon State in a 76–75 loss to UCF.
His only double-double last season was in a 77–76 overtime win over Charlotte on March 1 in the American Conference tournament, when he collected 16 points and 10 rebounds.
He competed for France in the 2023 U18 European Championships, the 2022 FIBA U17 World Cup and the 2021 FIBA U16 European Challengers.

Roster assuming all players with eligibility other than Caleb Wilson, Luka Bogavac, Derek Dixon, Kyan Evans, Jonathan Powell, James Brown, Ivan Matlekovic and Zayden High return and the players in the incoming freshman class hold in their commitment (Dylan Mingo has reopened his recruitment), which would put UNC three under the 15-player limit. The class for next season is listed.
