French center Maxim Logue reportedly isn’t expected to transfer to UNC

By R.L. Bynum

Nine days after Florida Atlantic big man Maxim Logue committed to North Carolina, there were issues related to his admission, and isn’t expected to transfer, according to multiple reports, first by Inside Carolina.

Logue, a 6–9 center from Lyon, France, would have had two seasons of eligibility remaining and given the Tar Heels a young, physical interior option who has already shown he can produce in short bursts.

Since Logue’s commitment was announced, Coach Michael Malone has secured commitments from Mali center Sayon Keita and former Northwestern center Cade Bennerman.

At FAU, Logue was a low-usage finisher who lived around the rim, ran the floor and converted high-percentage shots. Last season, he averaged 4.8 points and 3.1 rebounds in 11.2 minutes per game while shooting 67.4% from the field.

Before FAU, he played at Oregon State. He now becomes part of UNC’s broader portal reconstruction under Malone — a roster that has leaned heavily on newcomers to fill holes created by departures and offseason churn.

His career-high was an 18-point, 10-rebound performance on April 1, 2025, in the College Basketball Crown tournament for Oregon State in a 76–75 loss to UCF.

His only double-double last season was in a 77–76 overtime win over Charlotte on March 1 in the American Conference tournament, when he collected 16 points and 10 rebounds.

He competed for France in the 2023 U18 European Championships, the 2022 FIBA U17 World Cup and the 2021 FIBA U16 European Challengers.

Roster assuming all players with eligibility other than Caleb Wilson, Henri Veesaar and the seven players who entered the transfer portal return, which would put UNC three under the 15-player limit. The class for next season is listed.
