Seth Trimble bettered his combined scoring output in his first three games with a 24-point performance at the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas on Wednesday night, when former UNC teammate RJ Davis produced an impressive double-double.
Playing without No. 1 pick AJ Dybantsa, Trimble’s Washington Wizards lost to the Los Angeles Clippers 108–94. But Trimble, who had 23 total points through three games, started and played nearly 27 minutes. He led the team in scoring, going 8-of-12 from the floor, 2-of-5 from 3-point range with three rebounds, an assist and a steal. He was a team-low -22.
Washington has one more two-way contract available, and Trimble is likely competing with former Virginia guard Reece Beekman and former Syracuse, Seton Hall and St. John’s guard Kadary Richmond for that spot.
Beekman played 36 NBA games last season for Golden State and Brooklyn. Richmond played three games last season for the Wizards but spent most of the season with their G League team, the Capital City Go-Go.

In Davis’ seventh Summer League game this month, he started and scored in double figures for the fifth time with 14 points in just over 29 minutes, leading the San Antonio Spurs to a 94–82 victory over Utah. The Jazz played without No. 2 overall pick Darryn Peterson.
The big difference in this game is that after pulling down a total of 13 rebounds in his first six games, he had 12 rebounds for his first Summer League double-double after never getting more than three rebounds in 13 Summer League games last year and this year.
Davis had four double-figure rebounding efforts in 175 career UNC games, with a high of 12 against Kansas in the 2022 national championship game.
Also on Wednesday, Pete Nance collected 11 points, four assists, two rebounds and a block in his Milwaukee Bucks’ 110–91 victory over the Charlotte Hornets. Cormac Ryan didn’t play (coach’s decision.)
In games involving Tar Heels on Thursday, Drake Powell’s Brooklyn Nets face the Houston Rockets at 4:30 (ESPNU), Caleb Wilson’s Chicago Bulls meet the Los Angeles Lakers at 6 p.m. (Prime Video) and Henri Veesaar’s Atlanta Hawks take on the Memphis Grizzlies at 8 p.m. (Prime Video).

The Las Vegas schedule reflects each team’s first four Summer League games there, which count toward tournament seeding. The top four teams advance to the semifinals July 18, with the championship game July 19. TV assignments for several later-round games were still to be determined.
Note that an experimental one-free-throw rule is in place. One, two and three free-throw sequences produce a single attempt worth the same total points, except for the final two minutes of the fourth quarter and all overtime periods when standard free‑throw rules apply.
