North Carolina finished off its first ACC sweep of the season, smothering California with one final burst of offense and power pitching in a 10–2 win in Berkeley, Calif. No. 15 UNC (17–3–1, 4–2 ACC) controlled the weekend from start to finish, outscoring Cal 14–5, nearly a year after the Tar Heels’ last road sweep against Wake Forest.

Center fielder Owen Hull drove in three runs to back outstanding pitching from Ryan Lynch as No. 15 North Carolina rolled to its fourth consecutive victory. Lynch struck out seven in eight innings as the Tar Heels piled up 10 hits to earn a 6–2 victory Saturday in Berkeley, Calif., over California and clinch their first ACC series victory of the season.

CHAPEL HILL — Jake Schaffner is the latest in a line of dynamic North Carolina leadoff men, giving No. 8 UNC plenty of spark at the top of the order. The North Dakota State transfer shortstop went 3-for-4 with a home run and four RBI as the Tar Heels coasted to a 12–2 win over Le Moyne on a beautiful Saturday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium.

CHAPEL HILL — No. 8 North Carolina was already dominating nearly every game before facing first-year Division I program Le Moyne, so more decisive wins were expected. The Tar Heels didn’t disappoint as third baseman Cooper Nicholson hit a homer and drove in five in their 16–3 seven-inning run-rule victory on a chilly, drizzly Friday afternoon at Boshamer Stadium.

CHAPEL HILL — After hitting only seven home runs in the first nine games, No. 8 North Carolina showed off its power Wednesday night. Led by four hits and two home runs from Stony Brook transfer Erik Paulsen, the Tar Heels blasted three long balls in a 13–3 seven-inning victory over VCU at Boshamer Stadium, their fourth run-rule win of the season.

CHAPEL HILL — Owen Hull continues a recent tradition of speedy North Carolina center fielders, and brings an extra edge. The hits had been slow to come for the George Mason transfer, who stole 42 bases last season, but he stacked them in the No. 8 Tar Heels’ 9–1 victory Tuesday at Boshamer Stadium over N.C. A&T.

CHAPEL HILL — Boston Flannery has worn a couple of numbers in his baseball life, but none have ever meant quite as much as No. 42. On Friday at Boshamer Stadium, the junior right-hander finally wore it again, not as a high school kid paying tribute to Jackie Robinson, but as a veteran Tar Heel who has waited for his moment to come back around.

CHAPEL HILL — After coming a win away from back-to-back trips to Omaha, North Carolina coach Scott Forbes has once again rebuilt a roster that looks capable of competing on the national stage, even after losing seven starters and the national pitcher of the year.
