North Carolina’s quest for its 23rd women’s soccer national championship got off to a good start. After a 12-day break, the No. 13-ranked and No. 3-seed Tar Heels rallied from a one-goal first-half deficit to beat Towson 3–1 in the first round of the NCAA tournament at Dorrance Field in Chapel Hill.

No. 19 UNC’s versatility fuels more aggressive — and likely more efficient — defensive approach
